Building Education & Accountability Together.

The Village HeartBEAT Inc. is a collaborative program organized to reduce risk factors associated with obesity, hypertension, and diabetes in the African American and Hispanic communities through Faith-Based Organizations (FBO) in Mecklenburg County.

The overarching goal is to invest in FBOs as mutual business partners to adopt effective and sustainable policy, systems and environmental change (PSE) strategies to enhance healthier lifestyle choices, develop tobacco-free sites, implement sustainable physical activities and nutritional options.

The academy trains Community Health Ambassadors in local congregations and interfaith communities.

To advance health by increasing leaders' capacity among faith-based organizations to transform their communities.

Learning & Training

Core Components

Providing skill-based training on human services issues, Public Health, and Chronic Disease Prevention. 

We address health disparities in the African American & Hispanic community.

Providing tools & resources to reduce health inequities in our local communities.

Focus

We address health disparities in the “crescent” zip codes of Mecklenburg County with an initial focus on 4 chronic diseases.

We partner with many Mecklenburg County public sectors such as American Heart Association, Novant Health, and UNCC.

A nationally recognized organization that supports and improves health disparities in underserved areas and communities.
